Old Warden Village Hall dates back to 1901 when the Lord of the Manor and owner of the village Frank Shuttleworth gave the building to the men of the village as a Reading room . The building had then two full-sized snooker tables , card tables for whist and cribbage and tables for dominos and drafts. A separate committee room with a reading table for daily papers , weekly and monthly magazines . On the death of Frank Shuttleworth in 1913 , his son Richard became President at the age of just three .
In 1976 after much fund raising and detailed negotiations with the Shuttleworth Trust , a very dilapidated building was renovated and became the Village Hall with a dedicated group of villagers (The Village Hall Management Committee) as Lease holders and Trustees. .
Since 2005 major improvements have been made by installing air sourced heating system , modern toilet and kitchen facilities , hearing loop , projector screen , disabled access and security cameras.
The Hall has the benefit of a large car park for around 50-60 cars and grass areas which can be used for marques or gazebos .
Kitchen (5.8mx3.5m) has commercial Gas/electric cooker , plate warmer , fridge , tea urn , electric kettles , stainless steel preparation table and a selection of crockery and cutlery to cater for 80-100 people.
The Hall ; (18.5mx5.7m and 5.4m high.
Committee room (4.7m x 3.5 and 3.2m high) stores 14 straight tables 4ft x 2ft 3ins , 8 round tables 5ft diam. and 6 x 2ft sq tables. 80 chairs.
Bar area with fridge and a selection of glasses.
The Hall is kept well maintained and up to date with all regulations and enjoyed by villagers and outsiders for many different activities.
